Service, Education/Employment and Redevelopment
(SER) de New Mexico has been in existence since 1965,
a joint effort between the GI Forum and the
League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC),
two of the oldest and largest Hispanic volunteer
organizations in the country. In 1966 SER de New Mexico became
part of the National SER network of SER-Jobs for Progress,
a private nonprofit community-based organization assisting
government agencies in providing the general public with
the opportunity to obtain work, education, housing, job training,
and employment services.
Today, SER de New Mexico administers five
Programs in six New Mexico counties including Bernalillo,
Dona Ana, San Miguel, Quay, Socorro and Valencia.
SER continues in its commitment and efforts to eliminate
poverty throughout the State of New Mexico and remains
dedicated to the promotion and development of sustainable
community education, employment, housing, and job training services.
